چکیده

BACKGROUND To compare the amount of debris extruded apically by using conventional syringe, Endovac & Ultrasonic irrigation. MATERIALS & METHODS Thirty freshly extracted mandibular premolars were selected, working length was determined and mounted in a debris and collection apparatus. The canals were prepared. After each instrument change, 1 ml. of 3% sodium hypochlorite was used as irrigation. Debris extruded apically by using conventional syringe, endovac& ultrasonic irrigation tech, was measured using the electronic balance to determine its weight and statistical analysis was performed. The mean difference between the groups was determined using statistical analysis within the groups &between the groups for equal variances. RESULTS Among all the groups, significantly less debris were found apically in the Endovac group (0.96) compared to conventional and ultrasonic group (1.23) syringe. CONCLUSION The present study showed that endovac system extrudes less amount of debris apically as compared to ultrasonic followed by conventional so incidence of flare up can be reduce by using endovac irrigation system. A comparative study of the debridement efficacy and apical extrusion of dynamic and passive root canal irrigation systems

BACKGROUND Root canal irrigation carries a risk of extrusion of irrigant into the periapical tissues which can be associated with pain, swelling, and tissue damage. Studies have shown less extrusion with sonic or apical negative pressure devices compared with syringe and side-port needle or passive ultrasonic irrigation with continuous irrigant flow. This study aimed to evaluate the effectivene...

Comparative safety of various intracanal irrigation systems.

The objective of this project was to evaluate the safety of various intracanal irrigation systems by measuring the apical extrusion of irrigant. Twenty-two single canal, extracted mature teeth were instrumented and secured through the lid of a scintillation vial to collect apically extruded irrigant. A precision syringe pump delivered controlled amounts of irrigant at a constant flow. The irrig...

Comparative Evaluation of the Amount of Debris and Irrigants Extruded Apically by Different Irrigating Needles - An in vitro study

Introduction: The main goal of the successful endodontics is the complete sterilization of the root canal space. During preparation, irrigants and debris such as bacteria, dentin fillings and necrotic debris may be extruded into the periradicular region leading to periapical inflammation and postoperative flare-ups. Several instrument designs and irrigation techniques have been developed to pre...
